(William) Reid Biberstine, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 6, 2023, in La Porte, IN.
Reid was born November 6, 1953, in Rhinelander, WI to Joegene and Romanel (Reid) Biberstine and at a young age moved to La Porte, where the family grew up loving life on Pine Lake. He graduated from La Porte High School in 1972 and Indiana University Bloomington in 1976.
Reid was many things: A son, father, uncle, stepdad, grandfather, trucker, skier, programmer, General Manager, Vice President, Board Member, dancer, biker, Real Estate Agent, traveler, winemaker, prospector, storyteller, lifelong learner, and an overall one-of-a-kind. He had a gift for connecting with people and turning strangers into extended family. Reid will be remembered for his unending willingness to lend a helping hand to his family and friends as well as for being an active member of La Porte First United Methodist Church.
Reid is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Biberstine; two sisters, Brenda Finney and Elaine Schiel; daughter, Jill (Matt) Finke; two sons, Joseph (Olivia Chew) Biberstine and Jonathan (Tatiana) Biberstine; stepdaughter, Carrie (Rick) LaMar; stepson, Kyle (Erin) Lapczynski; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Romanel Biberstine.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at La Porte First United Methodist Church with Pastor Tim Ahlemeyer officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
Visitation for Reid will be from 4 - 7 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 10 a.m. until the start of the service on Tuesday at the church.
