Wilma Jean (Bocknar) Matayo

Wilma Jean Matayo, 79, of La Porte, passed away on February 18, 2024 at Millers Merry Manor-New Carlisle.

Wilma was born on August 11, 1944 in Decatur, IL, to Eddy and Helen (Wesselhoff) Bocknar.

Surviving Wilma are her son, Kenneth W. Matayo; granddaughters, Brittany Matayo and Alyssa Heaphy; brother, Robert King; dear friend/like a daughter, Melissa Cable; bonus grandchildren, Rachel Cable, Chad (Emily) Cable, and Gwen Cable; bonus great-grandchildren, Mason and Avalynn; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Phyllis Cannon and Kathy Carol-DeMarrow; and significant other, Haron Woolbright.

Wilma worked many years as a line leader assembler.  She enjoyed camping, dancing, and cruising around with Haron in his antique car.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery, La Porte.

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
