Mrs. Winifred "Gerri" Murphy Smith, 78, of 116 D St., LaPorte, died of natural causes Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at 11:39 a.m. at LaPorte Hospital.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from noon until the service. Interment will be in Door Village Cemetery, LaPorte County.
She was born on February 13, 1927 in Virginia, Illinois to Ulysses and Sylvia (Smith) Jones. On February 6, 1955 in Beardstown, Illinois she married Raymond L. Murphy who passed away on December 19, 1979. Then on November 6, 1981 in La Porte, Indiana, she married William L. Smith who passed away on July 17, 1992.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and one brother: William Jones. Mrs. Smith was a housewife and a member of the La Porte Lionettes.
She is survived by three daughters: Dixie L. Harmon of La Porte, Indiana; Linda (Mike) Dugger of Beardstown, Illinois and Teresa (Richard) Walker of La Porte, Indiana. Two Sisters: Imogene Way of Petersburg, Illinois and Irena Haber of Beardstown, Illinois. One Brother: Warren Jones of Kansas. Eight Grandchildren and ten Great Gramdchildren.
