Zula M. Flickinger, 93, La Porte, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Brentwood.
Zula was born in Crawford County, AK, on October 18, 1923 to Claude Richard and Nona Louise (Dotson) Williams.
On November 2, 1957 in Alma, AK, she married Wilbur who preceded her in death in 2005. Surviving are her brother-in-law, Hank Birkholz of La Porte; nieces and nephews, Gay Lyn (Tom Behny) Birkholz, Michael (Debra) Birkholz, and David (Martha) Birkholz; and several other loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and sister, Janet Sue Birkholz.
Zula was a Department Head of the civil division for the La Porte County Sheriff's Office; she retired in 1988. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Ladies Democratic Club. She served on La Porte County Police Merit Board as secretary and then as a member of the commission.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Roger Ash officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 9 AM until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Interment will take place following the service at Pine Lake Cemetery.
